National Nest Box Week

The annual National Nest Box Week takes place from 14th – 21st February, and as in previous years, organisations and Individuals will be putting up nest boxes to make up for the lack of natural nesting places for wild birds in an increasingly urbanised environment.

New this month to the Kingfisher Bird Care range from Bonningtons is a collection of quirky and unusual bird houses which provide a fun alternative to the traditional wooden nest box.

Heading up the new collection is a series of poly resin novelty boxes, moulded into various novelty designs including a vintage camper van, a tractor, an authentic looking fisherman’s basket, a post box and a milk carton complete with ornamental bird detail.    Poly resin is a sturdy material that is virtually unbreakable, so these products will provide a safe haven for birds for many years.  They have the added advantage of a removable plug in the base for easy cleaning, and a natural jute rope for suspending from trees or hooks.

In contrast to these man-made boxes, other additions to the range include beautiful rustic nesters made from brush wood with natural moss and bark details.  They provide a cosy, safe environment for birds without looking unnatural in any garden setting.
